Cafe Pa Todos is a new coffee shop opening in San Juan next year.
We believe there is a need for community places which encourage and sponsor involvement in the local community. ("Third place".) Most people have Work and Home. There are not many places you can go outside of that. There are libraries
and churches.
Our vision is to create a cornerstone in the community, to allow people to meet each other organically, to let people come and use the wifi, to drink good coffee or tea with friends.
We are currently looking for locations which meet our requirements. If you have commercial real estate, recommendations, or want to be involved, please reach out to us!
We are currently considering Roosevelt in Hato Rey (near Plaza Las Americas and on the entrance to highway 22 leading to Bayamon and San Juan).
We are looking for a place that can support a drive-thru window, as well as a full lobby and indoor / outdoor seating area.
Café pa' todos, which is short for "cafe para todos", can be written in a number of short ways, based on how relaxed you pronounce it. Some variations include cafe para todos, cafe para to, cafe pa todo, cafe pa to, etc.
It literally means "coffee for everyone".
Besides the literal meaning, it is a very famous saying stemming from the Spanish Transition (when Spain became a democracy). It was intended as a method to appease all parties involved, which interestingly landed on the side of
greater autonomy and independence, although still under a central government, so all sides had some treatment.
Minister Arévalo's saying and the issues in Spain at that time strangely mirror Puerto Rico and the question of "Status" (whether Puerto Rico should be independent or a state of the United States).
Cafe pa todos will offer:
• Full selection of hot, iced, and blended coffee, tea, and other beverages
• a drive through with FAST service, located conveniently on your route to work
• an indoor lobby with A/C, and outdoor seating area with shade
• a small community stage, for public events such as poetry, open mic, or other events
In addition, we would like to offer some other options, such as a conference room, cubicles or small desks dedicated for work, membership perks such as free drinks, high-speed wifi (hopefully powered by Optico Fiber).
If there's something you would like to see, let us know!
We are aiming for a 2026 open date.
We welcome any involvement at this stage of planning! Whether you're looking for a coffee shop and just want to sign up for updates, or whether you are a capital partner, commercial real estate guru, or want to work with us and be part of our team -- or something else entirely -- just contact us and we're happy to discuss!
